STS-93 Post Flight Presentation
NASA's STS-93 mission was launched from Kennedy Space Centre, on July 23, 1999. Its primary payload was the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, designed to observe X-rays from high energy regions of the universe, such as hot gas in the remnants of exploded stars. The shuttle mission was commanded for the first time by a woman, Eileen Collins. Other crew members are Jeffrey S. Ashby (pilot), mission specialists Steven A. Hawley, Catherine G. Coleman and CNES atronaut, Michel Tognini, whose previous experience includes the 1992 Antares mission to Mir.
